The property is owned by Palmer Brook Corporation, a Massachusetts domiciled corporation wholly-owned by the two brothers who also own the family office management company, RCMC, Inc. d/b/a Riverside Capital Management, which manages the property.
The property was purchased in 1967 and an earthen dam was constructed to create Palmer Brook Lake. The lake was used solely by the owners’ families for recreational purposes - camping, sailing, hiking, fishing - until 1998 when a private membership fishing club was established. The Berkshire Fishing Club was developed to maintain and monitor the property as the families had grown, moved on and rarely used the lake. There is a cabin on the property which was constructed to serve as the clubhouse for its members. The State of Massachusetts requires a dam safety report every 2 years. Palmer Brook Corporation has the earthen dam inspected every year. Inspection reports, log cabin specifications, lake biology reports and property financials are all available.
The owners have come to realize that the property does not lend itself to being passed on to future generations due to the next generation families’ diverse interests, careers and geographical locations. As a result, the decision has been made to sell the property. We believe that this mile-long lake, whose entire shoreline is owned by Palmer Brook, is the last lake of its size available to a buyer in New England, and it therefore could have a great deal of value as a family compound and/or a place to safely park some capital.
